John McFaul - Owner/Guide

John McFaul is a professional naturalist who has been leading nature walks and hikes for 35 years. A native Calgarian, he received a BSc degree in Environmental Biology from the University of Calgary. From 1986-2003 he worked for City of Calgary Parks as a naturalist for the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. John is an honourary member of the Calgary Field Naturalists’ Society (Nature Calgary) and has been awarded the prestigious Loran L. Goulden Award and the Frank and Alice Harper Memorial Award from the Federation of Alberta Naturalists (Nature Alberta). John is an accredited Professional Interpreter with the Interpretive Guides Association.

Julia Millen - Guide

Julia Millen has worked as a professional naturalist since 1986 for Alberta Parks, Kananaskis Country, the Helen Schuler Nature Centre (Lethbridge), the Anne and Sandy Cross Conservation Area, the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary, and in Canada's National Parks. Julia’s formal education includes a BSc degree in Physical Geography, a BMus in vocal performance, and an MA in musicology. She is an accredited Professional Interpreter with the Interpretive Guides Association, and a first aid instructor. She currently works for Alberta Parks, sings with a variety of ensembles, and is a nature nerd about plant identification.

I have met with but one or two persons who understand the art of Walking that is, of taking walks - who had a genius, so to speak for sauntering.
